Getting Along With My Classmates

Peer relationships are often an area that causes problems for my friends. Social cues are hard to read and understand. They also change from friend to friend or day to day. Many of our friends think that the world revolves around them, so give and take in peer realationships are sure to be tricky for our friends. Lots of practice that includes reviewing events, considering point of views from all involved and looking at how behavior contributed to these events all need to be a part of figuring out the fine art of getting along with others. You'll need to spend a lot of time on this one. Good luck and Enjoy!

This year I am in 5th grade. I have many kids who I work with each day. I like to work and play with them.
There are times when I have some difficulties with them. Sometimes there are misunderstandings. That means that my friends and I have trouble getting along and then we get mad at each other. This seems to happen a lot.
I have options when this happens.
1.   I can take deep breaths and try to calm down.
2.   I can walk away and find someone else to play or work with.
3.   If I am really frustrated, I could talk to an adult and try to get some help.
4.   I can ask to take a break in the Learning Lab and get some help with my problem.
People don’t always get along with each other. That is normal. Next time when I have trouble getting along with others, I will try my best to use these strategies to help me work things out.
