New School Wide Rules

Between this students 3rd and 4th grade year, our school implemented a school wide rule policy. The rules were the same in the classroom, cafeteria and playground. This helped all the kids understand that they had to respect the rules anyplace in the school.  I wrote this story for my student because he had some issues with following rules. I put a positive spin on it so that he would be proud to follow rules and be a "leader". What kid doesn't want to be a "leader"? This went over well. When rules are clear cut with consistent expectations, things go much better. Enjoy!
I am going into 4th grade this year. My teacher's name is Mrs. Clark. This year things will be a little different from when I was in 3rd grade.

Since I am in the 4th grade this year, there are new rules and expectations for me.I am considered a leader by my classmates because I am one of the older students in my class. The younger kids watch me and my behavior, so I need to always try to follow the rules of the classroom and set a good example for the younger kids.

The rules this year are the same all over the school. The first rule is to follow all directions given to me at all times. This means that when  a teacher tells me to do something, I do it. I should try not to argue or complain, but just follow the directions.

The second rule is to be respectful to everyone. This means I should always be nice to people. I also need to remember that being respectful means that I should work quietly and remember to raise my hand in class so that I don't disturb people working.

The third rule is to accept responsibility for my own actions, Everybody makes mistakes, so if I make a mistake, I need to admit it, apologize and then get over it.

The last rule is to keep my hands, feet and objects to myself. I should never throw or hit anyone with anything.

If I follow the school rules, then I will be a leader in my class. This is going to be a great school year!
